MEDICATION MANAGEMENT
We may, when appropriate, recommend medications and prescribe medications to help clients in achieving their desired goals. We help our clients make informed decisions about their treatments and provide them both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment options.
Medication management is a level of outpatient treatment that involves the initial evaluation of the patient’s need for psychotropic medications, the provision of a prescription, and ongoing medical monitoring related to the patient’s use of the psychotropic medication by a qualified physician/prescriber. Medication management includes monitoring, reconciling medications, and ensuring patients get the desired outcomes. It requires a thorough review of prescribed drugs and their possible side effects to create treatment plans and monitor their safety and efficacy. The majority of our patients who are taking medications also receive individual counseling.
-INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
A Place to Start uses various psychotherapy modalities to help our clients develop a broader understanding of themselves which, in turn, enables them to change and adopt behaviors that are positive and constructive.
-COUPLES COUNSELING
Through a series of private sessions, you and your partner can develop healthy ways to resolve conflicts, find compassion, nurture each other and get what you need from your relationship.
-VIVATROL
Currently, alcohol and opioid dependence are among the greatest threats to health in the United States. A Place to Start is proud to offer a pharmacological option to alcohol and opioid dependence which is different from traditional methods of relapse prevention, such as methadone.
Vivitrol is a prescription injectable medicine used to:
• Treat alcohol dependence. You should stop drinking before starting Vivitrol.
• Prevent relapse to opioid dependence, after opioid detoxification. This means that if you take opioids or opioid-containing medicines, you must stop taking them before you start receiving Vivitrol.
To be effective, treatment with Vivitrol must be used with other alcohol or drug recovery programs such as counseling. Vivitrol may not work for everyone.
