Susan Lang, LISW-CP Supervisor, ADC
Owner/Clinical Social Worker/Therapist
Susan Lang is the owner of "A Place to Start" and has been a Licensed Independent Social Worker and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor with over 35 years experience in the mental health field. Over the course of her extensive career she has worked in various settings such as inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient programs, detox, substance rehab and private practice.
Susan offers couples counseling and individual counseling for a multitude of mental health and substance abuse disorders included but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, addiction, grief and psychosis.

Mary Jane provides medication management for a variety of psychiatric illness's. She prides herself on staying up to date on the latest psychiatric medications so that she can provide her patients with the most optimal and effective care.

I have a deep understanding of the challenges individuals, families, and children face on a daily basis. My passion for breaking the stigma in mental health, ability to be empathetic and help others allows clients to feel a sense of belonging, be courageous, and recognize who they were, where they are now, and where they are going in order to move to the next level.
As an experienced professional school counselor and licensed professional counselor, I assist children, adolescents, and adults identify and conquer their negative thinking patterns in order to develop appropriate skills. I utilize the best approach that fits the needs of the client ranging from cognitive behavioral techniques to faith-based counseling.
I provide a safe, caring, and compassionate environment that allows you to grow without judgment. My goal for clients is to improve their quality of life and mental health.
Natali Amaradasa, APRN, PMHNP, FNP-BC
PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER
Virtual & In Person Provider! I am a Board Certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience in Family and Psychiatric Medicine. I provide comprehensive, personalized, psychiatric assessments and mutually agreed upon evidence based Treatment/Medication Management for children ages 5 and up, adolescents, teens, and adults. I have a special interest in treating complex mental health disorders and substance abuse problems. My goal is to provide compassionate, non-judgmental, comprehensive, high quality care tailored to meet your individual needs. You need someone who is patient, willing to listen and to take the time to understand what you are going through.

Alfreda Small, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor/Certified Complex Trauma Professional
Alfreda Small is a Myrtle Beach, SC native who is known for her service to both her country and her community. After receiving her Bachelor's degree in Social Science from Charleston Southern University, Alfreda joined the South Carolina National Guard. While in the military, she completed her Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University. While completing her 6 year term as a Sergeant in the military, Alfreda began her career as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She worked for South Carolina Department of Mental Health, and in 2020 she launched Small Counseling and Wellness, LLC in Conway, SC. At her practice, Alfreda is Certified Complex Trauma Professional and is committed to supporting adolescents and adults who are struggling with both the emotional and psychological effects of trauma.
Alfreda believes that each person is an individual, with struggles and triumphs no one can understand but themselves. She values diversity and adheres to her mission and core values. She believes that each and every human being is capable of creating a life worth celebrating. She strives to provide a safe, compassion-centered home for healing and growth and she is dedicated to living this mission in all that she does.
